Janička in Taiwanese newspapers

Not long ago, Janička was interviewed by her formal Czech student who now works at United Daily. There’s a bit of a journalistic invention, but Janička most certainly wants to become 最懂得兩岸文學的捷克人 “Czech, who understand the cross-straight literature the best of all” :)

LyZ 2.1a1

I have finally got around to add few useful ideas that have been suggested by some of you. This is a testing release! Please use caution when using it. I have tested it briefly and nothing seems to be broken, but few things have been changed, see the list of changes below.

Please let me know about any issues you encounter, best by submitting a bug report here.

Thanks a lot for your donations, ideas and complaints.

Changes in this release:

  • Bibtex translator chooser: Just put custom Bibtex translators into the directory “translators” in the Zotero directory and change the translator in the LyZ settings. Credits for this go to Kevin Unhammer.
  • Export alternative publication date such as “in press” using BibTeX-LyZ. Put BibTeX-LyZ.js to “translators” directory in your Zotero directory and choose it in LyZ settings. Other custom Bibtex translators can be found here and here.
  • Creation of cite keys can be bypassed in settings. Use this if you want default cite keys created by default Zotero BibTeX translator or your custom translator with your own specific cite keys.
  • Cite key format: “zotero” will produce something like “0_XXXXX” where “0” is library ID. Use “zoteroShort” to produce only the item ID (the trainling XXXXX) without the library ID. This is useful when exporting from OOo.
  • UTF8 export now works again.
  • Removed duplicate entries in the dialogs.

To be done soon:

  • Escaping of accented characters. Please send me any characters that show up incorrectly in the bibtex file. Ideally, send me the link where you got them from, or if you have entered them manually, export them e.g. to Zotero RDF and send them over. I will then add them to BibTeX-LyZ.
  • Get LyZ working in Zotero Standalone.
  • And of course any manageable requests, including those that were submitted on launchpad.

LyZ 2.0.1

LyZ has been updated to support Zotero’s new pane interface. Thanks goes to Greg who reminded me about this, as I have overlooked it entirely. The update should show up on the Firefox addons soon.

From Dropbox to SugarSync

I have just switched from Dropbox to SugarSync. The reasons:

  1. With SugarSync I don’t have to put all my files into a dedicated directory. The interface lets me choose any directories.
  2. From time to time Dropbox would lock Word files, which would become read-only. This was particularly annoying.
  3. SugarSync offers 5GB free + versioning (2 versions for free, 5 versions in paid solution)
  4. Better pricing solutions
  5. You get nice URL (username.sugarsync.com) 😉

Just give it a try: Get SugarSync!

LyZ Update

LyZ has been updated to work with Firefox 4 and Zotero 2.1 as well as with the new flashy LyX 2.0. Please download at Firefox Addons and let me know about any problems you encounter.

Amen… I mean How true!

LyZ for Firefox 4

I’ve updated LyZ to work with new Zotero beta update and Firefox 4 (b6). Please test and if you find any errors, which I hope you don’t, please follow the guidelines at LyZ page.

Download new version LyZ 2.0 (lyz-ff4.xpi) from https://launchpad.net/lyz.
