Cockpit Ressurection Album Update

Today we finally finished the caulking! Now we have to wait for 7 days before the sanding and then, hopefully, we will end up with a beautiful teak cockpit! You can have a look at some updated photos here.

Cape Horn Installed

We are moving on with our plans. Today we have installed self-steering windvane Cape Horn. Now we can really take off towards that horizon!

Cape Horn was invented and tested on a solo circumnavigation by Yves Gélinas, who made a very interesting film about the voyage.

Can’t wait to test it out on the water, but first we want to install (tomorrow!!!) all that beautiful teak back into our cockpit…

New Photos

Finally, we have uploaded a new series of photos on our website – shockingly, the last pictures date back to last year’s summer! The truth is, until the beginning of March, we were mostly preoccupied with studying and thesis writing. Now both of us are only waiting for our defenses (and amazingly it turned out quite well for us – mine is at the end of April and Petr’s at the beginning of May) and so we’ve plunged ourselves into another series of repairs on our boat, so that we can finally move aboard soon! You can see how we fared here.

Auto-open Word document at last postition

I’ve been working with a larger Word document a lot last few days and I got really tired of having to scroll to the last position where I was before. I was about to write a macro, but alas, it’s been written already! It makes Word remember your last editing position…

LyZ 2.1.4 – Zotero Standalone

LyZ seems to work just fine with the new Zotero Standalone 3.0b1. I’ve tested it lightly on Linux only, so please use with caution and let me know what does not work. I will try to find time soon and get it working.

To install, open Zotero Standalone, go to Tools > Addons and click on the “mixer” icon on top and click “Install Add-on from file..” and choose the downloaded lyz-2.1.4.xpi.

Lyz 2.1.2

This update fixes problems with Update Bibtex when document contains items that have been duplicated in Zotero. Zotero assigns special ID to every item and LyZ only looks at these IDs. So if you have two identical books in your, e.g. two “Richard Dawkins 2006 The God Delusion“, they will be treated as two different items. Since you might not notice you have two of those, you might have cited both in your document and then delete one later. Another possibility is that you have deleted the same item and added it into Zotero again, which would result in different IDs as well. “Update Bibtex” couldn’t handle either of these scenarios.

This version of LyZ works around this problem in the following way. Since it is not possible to identify the items automatically, user is presented with the BibTeX key of the deleted item. If you are using “readable” keys such as “dawkins2006thegod” then you simply wait for the update to finish (the item is deleted both from LyZ database and your BibTeX file) and simply cite the item again. If you cannot identify the item from the BibTeX key, you need to track it down in LyX document. This is also relatively easy, because the bibtex entry for this item is missing, but the citations are still in the document.
