Apparently this particular card has an unsupported chipset. But it can be made to work by following these steps:

Konečně jsme nahráli fotky z května až začátku září 2008, tj. příprav na naší první velkou plavbu a onu plavbu samotnou. Ze Singapuru jsme měli zamířeno do maríny Rebak v souostroví Langkawi. Než jsme tam ale dorazili, polámál se nám motor, což nás přinutilo strávit tři krásné, ale pro naše nervy náročné týdny v Lumutu. Detaily zaznamenané písmem budou následovat záhy.

We have finally uploaded photos from May to the beginning of September 2008, i.e. preparations for our first major sailing trip and the voyage itself. We started in Singapore, our destination being Rebak Marina in Langkawi archipelago. Before we made a landing there, however, our engine broke, which made us spend three lovely, though rather unnerving, even vexing, weeks in Lumut. Detailed written account of our voyage will follow soon.

Debian menu in GNOME

One idle afternoon I have looked at GNOME, which I haven’t used for a while. Debian menu was missing. Took me a while, but solution is found: debian logo

$ apt-get install menu-xdg

$ dpkg-reconfigure menu

$ dpkg-reconfigure menu-xdg

Then System/Preferences/Main Menu and select Debian menu.

Life is suddenly easier, ain’t it?

Rxvt and Cannot find terminfo entry for ‘rxvt-unicode’

Great lightweight editor that supports Unicode, but seems to be neglected by Linux distros, since starting e.g. screen (what would really our life be like without it…) raises only:
