We have started to manage all our new photos with Picasa, you can find us on the Picasa Web Albums as user syJanna.

Since Picasa is build around a rather flat concept of albums and does not allow navigation through time, during an appetitive and an after lunch siesta, I have written a simple extension for otherwise great plugin Shashin, that allows to display albums by year and month.

Therefore, on the right navigation panel you will find Photos (old), which you can navigate with the tree under the headline Galley, as well as the new Photos, which are navigated with the tree labeled Album. Hope it’s not too confusing (couldn’t think of anything better that would take less than two hours of programming…)

If you are using WordPress with the Shashin plugin you can add the tree widget simply by placing this Shashin.php into the shashin directory in your plugins. You need to change the variable $pid on line 1153 to the page id where you placed the Shashin tags. Then add the widget (Shashin:TreeView) to your sidebar. It might need a bit of tweaking to make it fit well with your theme.
